APSIS shortlisted for Scotland’s first AI Trailblazer award.

The short version

Agency AI builds the APSIS construction platform: AI agents that take on the repetitive work in estimating, procurement and project planning. In March, that platform put APSIS on the first shortlist for Scotland’s new AI Trailblazer award.

ScotlandIS created the AI Trailblazer category this year to find companies where AI is already doing measurable work. APSIS Business Components made the first shortlist, judged on a platform our team designs and builds. The award itself went to the software testing consultancy 2i, at the ceremony in Glasgow on 19 March.

What the judges were looking at

Estimating, procurement and project planning all run on the same thing: the same checks, the same calculations and the same documents, repeated on every job. The platform puts AI agents into each of them.

Procurement is the clearest example. It runs on documents never designed to be read by software: delivery notes, invoices and orders arriving as PDFs, as spreadsheets, and as photographs of printouts taken on site. The agents read them, price the work, and turn the lot into records a quantity surveyor can actually search. Bids are drafted from a library of past submissions, with every claim linked back to the document it came from, and questions about project files are answered in plain English.

All of it runs on live projects every day, and new capability ships most weeks.

What it means for construction

Construction gets described as slow to digitise. What we see is simpler than that: people adopt tools that survive contact with a building site. Handle the paperwork the industry actually produces, in the state it actually arrives, and the software gets used without anyone being told to use it.

The engineering behind each part is covered in our case studies on agentic AI for construction, procurement document automation and AI bid writing. If you run a construction business and want to know what this looks like in your operation, start the conversation.
