Peacock Salt is the UK's largest and oldest salt distributor, a family-owned Ayrshire business that has supplied salt since 1874. From seven UK sites, including Ayr, Rosyth and Tilbury, it supplies sectors ranging from winter maintenance and water softening to aquaculture, food and cosmetics.
Working with Agency AI, Peacock is using AI across some of its most critical functions: sales, customer service and order processing. The largest piece of work is a bespoke order processing solution, due to go live ahead of the winter peak.
Trained and tested on around 100,000 of Peacock’s past orders, the solution applies more than 20 of the company’s own business rules to every incoming order, from converting quantities into pallets to confirming what the customer intended. When it goes live, we expect to automate around 30,000 orders a year with no manual checking. At three to four minutes an order, that saves the order processing team up to 2,000 hours of manual checking per year. More on how this works in AI order processing.
“AI was something we had been considering for a while, and we wanted to do it properly, with a partner who understood how our business actually works. The systems Agency AI has built are already helping our teams, and we are going into our busiest season in a stronger position.”

Customer service also sees order status and delivery updates before they open a request.

Peacock is introducing Claude for Enterprise across the wider business, and the two firms are already discussing the next phase of work.
